2011 US Open women's singles champion Samantha Stosur crashed out of the Australian Open on Day 2 in her Round 1 match against unseeded Romanian Sorana Cirstea. Stosur, No 6 seed among the women's singles players, was the only seeded Australian player in the Australian Open.
Cirstea defeated Stosur 7-6, 6-3.
